5 Ways To Step Up Your Daily Prayer Habit

If you are a dedicated Christian and you don’t have a daily prayer habit, the first thing I would encourage you to do is to start one. If you do have a daily prayer habit and you want to step it up, here are some helpful tips that will allow you to do so.

1. Start your day with prayer.

When you begin your day with a short prayer, you begin your day with Jesus Christ is mind. You can ask God to guide you through the day. Ask Him to use you throughout the day to demonstrate the Word whenever you have the opportunity. Perhaps there will be a homeless man you can buy a sandwich for. Perhaps you will want to do a good deed and pay for the person behind you at Chic-Fil-A. Whatever it is, I promise you that your day will be a lot better if you begin it with a prayer. Thank God for all of your blessings, and ask Him to be there with you all day.

2. Read the Bible every day.

You can download one of those apps on your phone that sends you a little bit of the Bible every day or you can listen to it on audiobook during your commute. Getting a little bit of God’s word into your mind every day will do wonders for your life and everyone who comes into contact with you.

3. Listen to Christian music on your commute.

You don’t have to be on your knees with eyes closed and your head bowed in the perfect location to talk to Jesus. Why not try listening to some gospel music or Christian rock music on your commute to and from work? You’ll be able to pray via song, and you’ll get the added bonus of being able to rock out in your car.

4. Start a devotional journal.

Our relationship with Jesus is so much stronger when we get a chance to jot down our thoughts and feelings about Jesus. Write down your prayers. Write down a list of things you are grateful to God for. Write down thoughts on that Bible verse or that new song you love. Even if you just take two minutes to write down a few devotional thoughts, I promise you, it will make your relationship with Jesus a richer one.

5. End your day with prayer.

Ending the day with a prayer is a great way to bookend the day. Just take a moment before bed to thank God for all of the blessings the day brought or to pray for your loved ones who may be going through difficult things. Or to pray for the country as a whole or the entire world.

There are many different ways to deepen your relationship with Jesus. Try it for five days in a row and see how your life starts to change.

God bless.
